After a very busy fall, I'm now taking on new clients and partners through EDA Consulting! I'm excited to be re-energized after the holiday season to learn about current and developing organizations. The EDA Consulting website is under construction right now, but you can find great resources there along with information about the consulting and trainings I provide through EDA Consulting.Board Recruitment & Retention
This year will (and has already) provide some great opportunities to learn about the best practices in leading nonprofits. Recently, I spoke on a panel at the USD Governance Symposium about recruiting and retaining board members. It was an exciting discussion facilitated by Sue Carter at Volunteer San Diego. You can see some of the resources provided and discussed on the EDA Consulting website, including a great board matrix tool which will help you to identify your board strengths and challenges.
Emerging Leaders Training Track
Look for upcoming news about Nonprofit Management Solutions' Emerging Leaders Training Track which I have been designing with them. As a part of this multi-faceted series, I'll be conducting a session on the Art of Schmoozing June 9th. It's a unique and innovative approach to supporting the next generation of nonprofit leaders and I commend them for their efforts. It's been a pleasure to work with Serena Ngo, Training Coordinator, on this effort. She is truly a great leader!
YNPN San Diego
I continue to partner with and serve at the Board Chair for YNPN San Diego. This organization has truly amazed and impressed me every step of the way. I am proud and honored to serve as the Founder and as part of the board's leadership for this amazing team. As of Jan.1 YNPN San Diego is fiscally-sponsored byVolunteer San Diego. YNPN San Diego has chosen to collaborate with an organization that shares our values and support of next gen leadership. It has been outstanding experience. We are also launching a new program, a professional development series every other month beginning on Jan. 28. Be sure to check out the YNPN San Diego website for all the details.
I've taken particular interest lately, and particularly during the holiday season, to focus on making charitable gifts through Facebook's Causes. It has been wonderful to set fundraising goals and create matching gifts for partnering clients. I have been consistently impressed with the ways these Causes (charities) have met the matching challenges by recruiting new members to the cause and raising funds only to be matched with more funds. If you are interested in learning more about using social media tools like Facebook, contact me for more information.
LLC
EDA Consulting filed its incorporation paperwork this December and we are now an LLC. If you would like to learn more about this process, please do not hesitate to contact me. I'm always open to sharing information about the process of starting a business of any kind.
See you soon!
There is obviously a lot happening out there in the world of philanthropy and nonprofits and I would love to hear what you are up to. Check out the EDA Consulting website, blog, listserv, Facebook group, LinkedIn group, and Twitter account to stay up to date and engaged with EDA Consulting. I hope to hear from you soon!!!
