A couple of weeks ago I had the opportunity to meet with a group of consultants from Hodge Cramer & Associates, Inc. in OH about using social media as a fundraising tool. It was a great to meet with so many enthusiastic individuals and reminded me about the diversity of experiences individuals have with web 2.0 technology.
I continue to believe that using web 2.0/social media tools for nonprofits is critical at this time. I have seen and participated in organizations that have demonstrated great success in communications, outreach, and fundraising with limited budgets primarily because of these tools. Three of my favorite examples are YNPN San Diego, Students for a Free Tibet, and, of course, the 2008 Obama Campaign.
In an effort to share some of this knowledge, I have uploaded my recent Power Point presentation on using social media as a fundraising tool to the new EDA Consulting page (not group) on Facebook. By becoming a "fan" of this group, you can access this information. If you are interested in learning more about social media as a fundraising tool or would like a training for you or your organization, feel free to contact me at EDA Consulting. It's an exciting topic and one that is also fun!
